Prickly Pines Disc Golf Course has been a much valued and heavily used recreational resource for the past 12 months. In providing a safe recreational outlet for so many during the pandemic, the course has unfortunately but expectedly been beaten down a bit and needs to heal. Baskets will be removed from the course beginning March 17, 2021 and the course will remain closed until at least June 1, 2021. We will be spreading native plant seed throughout the area, adding mulch around basket areas, and limiting traffic in the area to promote the regrowth of vegetation. We look forward to seeing the natural area that makes Prickly Pines so unique heal over coming months and to re-opening the course for play this Summer. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
In late 2017, the Park Board directed staff to develop and install an 18-hole disc golf course in Evans Park to offer another recreational activity for the community. Staff worked with local players Cameron Burrow and Jeremy Priest to design the first 9 holes. After months of playing, hearing from other players, and approval to install an additional 9-holes, the course was re-designed and expanded. The first tee is located just off the parking area for the pond.
Please be respectful of this special natural environment when playing by minimizing your impact and by packing out all litter / trash. Also, watch your steps and avoid the prickly pear cactus throughout the area. Be considerate of other park users by using a spotter on blind throws, and avoid smoking while on the course due to the potential of wildfires.
Want to play but not sure you want to invest in a set of discs? You can now rent a set of discs (driver, midrange, putter) at the park office for $5. The park office is open Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm. No rentals are available outside of these days / times.
Whether you are a seasoned veteran player or someone who has never played at all, come on out and let us know what you think of the course!
