In late 2017, the Park Board directed staff to develop and install an 18-hole disc golf course in Evans Park to offer another recreational activity for the community. Staff worked with local players Cameron Burrow and Jeremy Priest to design the first 9 holes. After months of playing, hearing from other players, and approval to install an additional 9-holes, the course was re-designed and expanded. The first tee is located just off the parking area for the pond. To assist with funding course maintenance and upkeep and to help mitigate environmental impacts, the Board began assessing a $5 per player fee for use of the course. Please pay your fee and comply with stated rules to ensure the course remains sustainable.
Please be respectful of this special natural environment when playing by minimizing your impact and by packing out all litter / trash or using existing trash receptacles. Also, watch your steps and avoid the prickly pear cactus throughout the area. Be considerate of other park users by using a spotter on blind throws, and always avoid smoking while on the course due to the potential of wildfires. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times throughout the course.
Want to play but not sure you want to invest in a set of discs? You can rent a set of discs (driver, midrange, putter) at the park office for $5. The park office is open Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm. No rentals are available outside of these days / times.
Whether you are a seasoned veteran player or someone who has never played at all, come on out and let us know what you think of the course!
